The DirectOffice® Mobile SDK Demo viewer app is a demonstration app that showcases the high fidelity document rendering and conversion of the DirectOffice Mobile SDK library. DirectOffice Mobile SDK allows developers to add PC-like viewing of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents to their apps.
Native Rendering
DirectOffice Mobile SDK is a standalone software library. Documents are securely rendered directly on the device in your app's sandbox. No need to hand off documents to another app for viewing. No cloud connection or pre-processing of the documents is required.
High Fidelity
Enterprise users expect their Office documents to look the same on their mobile device as they do on their PCs. DirectOffice Mobile SDK enables your app to render Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents with PC-like fidelity for viewing and printing. DirectOffice correctly places paragraphs, text boxes and headers/footers; accurately draws images, shapes, tables, WordArt and SmartArt; and retains the line and page breaks of the original document.
Complete Font Solution
DirectOffice Mobile SDK includes a complete font system supporting hundreds of fonts and worldwide languages, including Cyrillic, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Arabic and Hebrew. DirectOffice uses an intelligent font matching mechanism to ensure the highest quality output in the smallest possible footprint. DirectOffice maintains the look and feel of the original fonts and carefully applies correct character metrics to preserve the original document layout.
Limitations of the Demonstration App (updated 12/22/2016)
- During resource installation, tapping the back button will cause the application to become unresponsive. The app must be reinstalled to work properly.
- After installation, the app must be opened by tapping on the DirectOffice icon and an Office file is processed before it can be opened from Android intent menu. Opening from the Android intent menu first will cause the app to crash.
- After viewing a file from Android intent menu, the app must be closed and reopened to select a file from the app's file browser. Otherwise, the app will display the original file again.
